Some people say that Singlish is the perfect representation of Singapore. Like a well-tossed rojak of languages, it is messy and strange to foreigners, but ultimately cohesive and harmonious with sweet black sauce and shaved nuts. When we asked you for your favourite Singlish Slang, alamak, all the kiasu people rushed to share their favourites!

Here are some of the other popular local slangs which deserve some honorable mention:

La	Adding "la" to end of any sentence gives it more authority!
Then?	With a single syllable, "then" means "are you sure you want me to say what happens next and embarass you, or would you like to figure out how this ends on your own?"
Abuden	The appropriate response after asking "then?"
Talk cock, sing song, play mahjong	A phrase that means wasting time that is said in a manner that simultaenously states our favourite past-times while being long winded and wasting our time
Blur like Sotong	Why are squids blur? We don't know. Maybe they move so fast that all we see is a blur.
